Latest Update
Suzuki unveiled the Hustler at the Tokyo Motor Show in Japan way back in 2013, and the Hustler possibly could make its way to India.
Exterior Design
The Hustler is a unique mini SUV with a boxy and upright silhouette, along with resembling KEI cars in Japan. The Hustler's design highlights might include chunky squared-off bumpers, a distinct grille with chrome or blacked-out elements depending on the trim, round LED headlights, tall pillars and a flat roofline, pronounced wheel arches with thick cladding, 15-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels, roof rails and a flat tailgate with a large glass pane.
Interior Design
The international variant of the Hustler utilises its interior spacing cleverly. The tall roofline ensures ample headroom, and upright seating makes ingress and egress easy for all ages. The cabin features a dual-tone dashboard, a floating 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with smartphone connectivity), circular AC vents, and ambient lighting for a modern feel. The dashboard-mounted gearbox, semi-digital instrument cluster, and dashboard storage box add unique touches, while foldable rear seats and a 200-litre boot (expandable for luggage) maximise practicality. Upholstery ranges from premium dual-tone fabric to water-repellent options in special trims, and higher variants may offer leather seats and a sunroof.
Variant & Colour
The Hustler is available in multiple variants internationally, but the most notable variant is the Tough Wild variant, which features a blacked-out grille, roof rails, door handles, and mirror caps; water-repellent textile upholstery with exclusive khaki stitching; and a unique "Tough Wild" insignia along with military-inspired interior accents. Apart from this, the Hustler is available in dual-tone colours like Off Blue/Soft Beige and Vermilion Orange/Black, as well as monotone shades such as Cool Khaki Pearl, Steel Silver, and Bluish Black Pearl.
Engine, Capacity and Mileage
The Indian model of the Hustler could possibly use Maruti's 1.2L DualJet petrol engine (89 PS, 113 Nm), as the 660cc unit may be underpowered for Indian conditions. This engine would be paired with a 5-speed manual or CVT automatic, offering peppy city performance and compliance with BS6 Phase 2 and E20 fuel standards.
Safety Features
The international variant of the Hustler offers a variety of safety features, such as:
- Multiple airbags (front, side)
- ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
- Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
- ISOFIX child seat anchors
- Reverse parking sensors
- Advanced features like forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control in higher trims
Dimensions and Weight
The measurements of the Hustler are as follows:
- Length: 3,395 mm (Japanese spec), with possible extension for India
- Width: 1,475 mm
- Height: 1,660-1,665 mm
- Wheelbase: 2,435 mm
- Ground Clearance: 180 mm
- Weight: 850-920 kg, depending on engine and trim.
Rivals
The international variant of the Hustler competes with vehicles such as the Tata Punch, Hyundai Exter, and Nissan Magnite.
