The new GLS is equipped with 3.0 litre gasoline and diesel engine options. The diesel version produces roughly 325bhp and 700Nm of peak torque, compared to the petrol version's 362bhp and 500Nm. Both engines come equipped with the 9G-Tronic and 4MATIC All-Wheel Drive systems. Interestingly, the EQ Boost feature is now available for the first time in the gasoline version.
The upright radiator grille in an octagonal SUV interpretation, the conspicuous chrome-plated underguard in the front apron with the bone-shaped air intake grille, and a bonnet with two powerdomes all contribute to the Mercedes-Benz GLS's bold, manly fascia. Multibeam LED headlamps with a total of 112 LEDs per headlamp are standard on the GLS. The three-LED segmented daytime running lights emphasise the GLS's position as the S-Class of SUVs. Along with noticeable bulges on the tailgate and twin exhaust tips with a trapezoidal finish, the rear taillights have a distinctive characteristic LED pattern. Compared to its predecessor, the SUV is now 77mm longer and 22mm wider.
Upholstery made of premium leather is standard. An incredibly large screen unit embedded in a novel dashboard support serves as the design's focal point. The MBUX infotainment system's big touchscreen makes it possible to operate all the GLS comfort features from the driver's seat. All seats have electronic adjustment, and the SUV boasts automated five-zone climate control, including a separate zone with roof vents for the third row.
This luxury vehicle includes seven airbags that offer eleven-way occupant protection. This includes front side-impact airbags, a driver's knee airbag, dual two-stage front airbags, and side curtain airbags that cover all three rows of seating.
